First of all take not that there are 2 types of lags in Fortnite, FPS lag and Network / Ping lag.
FPS lag
If you have low FPS (Framerate per second), this will lead to lags when playing. You should have at least 60 fps to have smooth game.
How to Fix low FPS:
Lower your graphics settings, leave all settings to low except for view distance.
If you already put graphic settings to low and you still have below 60 FPS, you should upgrade your PC.
Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements to play Fortnite smoothly.

VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 equivalent DX11 GPU
Network / Ping lag
You should have at least 50 ping to play Fortnite without lags and delays.
How to Fix high ping:
If you have a slow internet, stop youtube videos and downloads. If there are no other people connected to your network but you still have high ping, you should upgrade your internet plan.
For Mobile users
Here are some lag fixes you can try if you're playing Fortnite on mobile:
1. Make sure your mobile phone meets the minimum requirements to play Fortnite
If you have a slow mobile phone, close other apps running in the background.
2. Make sure you have good internet connection.
If you're using data connection, you should have at least H+, 3G, or 4G connection. If you are using Wi-Fi make sure the people who are connected on your network are not watching youtube videos and downloading.
